I had a doctor’s appointment today. It is really frustrating going to the doctor this often because every visit takes 2 hours…my blood pressure (120/60) and Jaxson’s heartbeat were both good. He prescribed me Claritin D for my congestion. I told the doctor that Jaxson has the hiccups about twice a day and he said that’s a good sign because it means his lungs are developing. My fundal height measures at 31 weeks and I was 33 weeks yesterday so I don’t expect him to be a 10 lb baby like Emmett and Jason, which is a relief. I have lost 1 pound since my visit last week. I really haven’t been as hungry compared to the last 33 weeks; I guess because there’s really no room for my stomach much less a lot of food! :) Jaxson is pretty much stretched out in there taking it easy…

I am 32 weeks today! We had another doctor's appointment this afternoon. Not much news to report...blood pressure good & baby's heart rate was good. I have gained 2.5 lbs since last time. We have another appointment scheduled for next Thursday, since our doctor will be out of town the week of Christmas. We usually end up waiting in the office for an hour and a half to see the doctor for about 5 minutes :)

I had my first baby shower today. It was hosted by Maria Cansler, Dana Matlock, Megan Shaffer and Patty Shaffer. We had good food, fun games and great company! Jaxson got a lot of great gifts and we were so excited to put everything in his room! Here are some pictures of just a few things he got…

I had my maternity pictures taken today. It was FrEeZiNg outside! We did several shots with Emmett and I and then several with me by myself. Hopefully, we will have proofs before Christmas. I cannot wait to see them! I am so excited!

What a Thanksgiving break it has been! We had Thanksgiving with the Overton's/Shaffer's on Thanksgiving Day and enjoyed lots of good food! Emmett and I are very blessed to have such wonderful families that would do anything for us. We are blessed to have such a special baby boy on the way as well!

 Moma and I decided to go shopping on "Black Friday" even though we weren't really looking for anything...we just ask to be punished! :) We did find some Christmas presents though. Emmett, Daddy and Jason went to Nashville to pick up our Christmas present from Papa and Nana Shaff (new recliner). We all met at 4D Peak at 3:30 for our 2nd 4D ultrasound to see baby Jaxson again. He wasn't cooperating very well and I had to get up 3 times to walk around to try to move him. He kept his hand in his face most of the time and the other times he would turn his back to us. He's a little camera shy right now :) When we did get to see his face, he's just adorable...of course!

Moma and I put up Christmas decorations at my house Saturday and did more shopping Saturday night and Sunday. All the shopping definitely started to get to me; my feet have never hurt so bad. I can definitely tell that my stomach is getting larger and larger and larger :)

My maternity pictures are scheduled for Friday, December 4 and we have our first baby shower on Saturday, December 5! Such an exciting weekend ahead!

We had a doctor's appointment today. After measuring the fundal height, the doctor said I am definitely pregnant...glad we picked the best doctor in town! lol :) I have gained 4.4 pounds since the last visit 3 weeks ago...yes it's more than a pound a week. I keep telling myself he's going to be a big boy! I've gained 19 pounds total...let's hope he's not that big! My blood pressure and the baby's heartbeat were both good. Jaxson was having a stubborn day and decided to kick the heart monitor 3 times when the doctor was trying to listen to his heartbeat. We will start seeing the doctor every 2 weeks now until Jaxson's arrival!

Emmett and I went to watch the Nashville Predators play Halloween night, thanks Wade & Elizabeth Privett! It was Jaxson's first hockey game :) He's been to several sporting events this year! We were 6 rows up from the ice and sat behind Vince Gill! Great seats! We also made the jumbotron for the first time! :)

It's been a while since I've had time to get on here and give a little update. I also need to upload some pictures of Jaxson's room. I've been trying to take advantage of all the overtime opportunities possible so I can build up my leave so I have plenty of time off when Jaxson gets here. Here's a little of what's been going on...

We had a doctor's appointment today; it was the first time that we actually scheduled with the doctor we chose for delivery. We've been meeting with a nurse practitioner. I had to drink a Sunkist 45 minutes before appointment time so they could check my sugar level. My blood sugar was 125 (as long as it's under 130 it's good) and my iron level was 11.50, which she said was good. We listened to the baby's heartbeat and the doctor said everything seemed to be going well. I am 25 weeks today :) Only 15 more before baby boy is here! I told him about the acid reflux and he gave me several prescriptions for pepcid, nexium...you never know what insurance will cover today! I've gained about 2 1/2 pounds since our last appointment so that makes 14.50 total thus far. I'm not really stressing over the weight gain; I'm eating semi-healthy (besides the daily donuts..haha) and just trying to give baby boy plenty of nutrients so he's healthy!  I've decided not to get the H1N1 vaccine; I'm not comfortable with it. I would probably be okay with it if they had done long-term studies. The doctor didn't say anything about it today so I didn't bring it up either.

Jaxson is usually really active about every other day. He's slept most of the day today except for a few little kicks here and there. Yesterday I don't know how my organs survived :) I thought my insides were bruised to the point of me having to put pressure on my side because he was kicking so much. I love feeling him kick and I love watching my stomach move :) There's no way to explain that experience and it's truly a miracle!

Emmett and I have talked about having another 4D ultrasound. It's been 7 weeks since our regular u/s and 10 weeks since our last 4D. I am ready to see him again and am anxious to see how much he has changed since week 15! This time I hope to schedule so my parents can come and experience it with us! We went into Toys-R-Us last weekend for the first time and I'm now obsessed! They have such a large selection of baby necessities! I can't wait to pick out the playpen, high chair, stroller & carseat! It's amazing how fast your priorities change when you have kids. I never understood how my moma could go shopping and buy NOTHING for herself but everything for us...I now understand...I have more fun shopping for Jaxson than I do myself. Emmett asked me the other night if I will wear "mom jeans" after Jaxson is born..I think he's worried I will let myself go...hahaha :) Bless him...

Jaxson's dresser/hutch was delivered yesterday. It looks great in the room! Much bigger than I expected but I can't wait to fill the drawers with clothes! :) He was VERY active yesterday so he must have known that it was coming in. I've been eating country ham biscuits for breakfast almost everyday so yesterday I decided to try a oats & honey bar. I don't think he cared for it too much...he kicked really hard until I finally had to go get a sausage biscuit. He calmed down :) He's already so much like Emmett...he loves to have his breakfast first thing in the morning! Nash usually barks between 4:30-5:30 every morning ready to get up and I've noticed that Jaxson is always kicking at that time. I read in my weekly update pregnancy book that he can hear the outside noises and that he's starting to adjust to them so they don't bother him once he's outside the womb. Guess Nash is just preparing him! :) It's 7:45 a.m. right now and I'm getting kicked pretty hard...guess he's ready for his ham biscuit!

I am 20 weeks today! We are 1/2 way there before we get to see our baby boy!! Emmett got me a pregnancy massage for our anniversary so I can't wait to use it!

Emmett and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary today by going out to dinner; we also went to the Ohio State game last weekend for our anniversary trip. It's not until Tuesday, September 15, but I will be in Louisville for work. Happy Anniversary Emmett!

Baby Shaff's room is painted! Emmett and his Dad started on the striped wall on Thursday. Today, Pawpaw O, Papa Shaff and Daddy did the final chocolate stripe and finished painting the rest of the room baby blue. It looks so good! I can't wait to get the furniture in there and to finish decorating!

We had another doctor's appointment today. We had our first doctor's ultrasound. The pictures don't look nearly as good as the 4D pictures! It was easy to drink all of the water but really hard not being able to use the bathroom an hour and a half later!! According to the preliminary results of the ultrasound, the doctor said everything looked good. They will send off the measurements to a radiologist to have everything checked out really good. The heartbeat was around 150 this time. I gained about 3 more pounds since the last visit 3 weeks ago. The doctor moved my due date up 2 days to February 3, 2010. Who knows how many times it will change! :) Baby Shaff weighs 9 ounces on 09.09.2009, is 19 weeks old and I've gained 9 pounds so far. The number "9" is a lucky number according to the internet! Emmett and Papa Shaff will start painting his nursery tomorrow! I'm so excited!

We went to an Ohio State football game over the Labor Day weekend. It was mine and baby's first OSU game :) Needless to say, Baby Shaff got lots of Ohio State stuff...pacifiers, bottles, outfits. We had a really good time and it was a much needed vacation!

I have an ultrasound appointment tomorrow at 2:45. I'm a little nervous about having to drink all the water and not being able to use the restroom. I also plan on talking to our doctor about the flu vaccine and H1N1 craziness!

Emmett painted one of the walls in the baby's room solid blue today. He and Papa Shaff are going to paint the stripes probably Thursday afternoon. I hope that it's easier than we think and that it turns out really well! We've also been looking at baby cribs for a couple of weeks now. There are so many out there and it's hard to narrow it down to just one. Plus, it gets really expensive once you start looking at the matching pieces.

The battle continues over what to name our baby boy...Kaeden Cole, Kaeden Reed, Jackson Cole, Landon Cole or Braylen Cole. It's such a big decision and Emmett and I don't agree :)

We had our 4D ultrasound today in Clarksville. We are having a BABY BOY!! It was really neat getting to watch him kick and move around! Everyone who wasn't able to go with us watched it live online. It was a great experience and we would recommend it to anyone that is having a baby. We only bought 2 outfits...so far...Nana Pat has bought SEVERAL outfits :)

We had another doctor's appointment this afternoon. We listened to the heartbeat and recorded it on our phones so we could forward to family! I've gained 3 lbs since our last visit, which makes 6 lbs total. I am 15 weeks and 4 days today. We scheduled our next appointment and the doctor's ultrasound for September 9, 2009. We are having our 4D ultrasound on Thursday to hopefully find out what we are having!!!

We scheduled our 4D ultrasound for August 20, 2009. They said they would be able to tell the gender of the baby..yahhh!!! We can't wait to have that done. We have an online username/password so our familes can watch it online and be there with us during the exciting time!

We bought our first diapers last night...never to early to begin the stockpile!

We had our third doctor's appointment today. We heard the heartbeat again; it has slowed down to 166 beats/minute since 3 weeks ago. We also got to hear the baby kick right in the middle of listening to the heartbeat! :) I gained 3.8 lbs in 3 weeks....I was sure to let my doctor know that I don't eat fruits or vegetables, I don't exercise and I've been eating lots of greasy foods! She didn't see to mind too much! According to the Chinese calendar (which our doctor says is about 96% right), we will have a little boy. Our next appointment is 08.18.09 and we will schedule the ultrasound!

We have been throwing some names back and forth…I like Emma Clair (Emmett’s middle name, named after her Daddy of course) but Emmett isn’t sold on it yet. I also like Madilynn (Lynn being my Daddy, Patty and my middle name) Clair. Emmett likes Addison Clair/Lynn or Tatum Clair for a girl. For a little boy…Emmett V, Cole, Jackson or Kaden. Nana wa-wa’s (My Mom) pencil trick has us convinced it’s a little girl. My nausea has subsided quite a bit since the beginning; I still require naps sometimes during work breaks and lunch. I am very anxious to find out if we are having a boy or girl. We look at baby clothes/accessories everywhere we go. I can’t wait to start buying those cute little outfits!

We had our second doctor’s appointment today. My weight is the same as last time. I am 9 weeks and 4 days. I’m still nauseas quite a bit but I’m learning to eat things that help out a little bit. All blood tests came back negative. We listened for the baby’s heartbeat. We didn’t expect to hear it since it’s still early and everyone warned us that we may have to get an ultrasound. However, she was able to find it pretty quick and it was strong and very quick, 177 beats/minute. Emmett and I were very excited to hear it for the first time; everything seemed real then. An ultrasound would have been nice too though! Our next appointment is scheduled for July 28, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.

We had our first doctor’s appointment today. We were both very nervous and I had to give what felt like an infinite amount of blood for testing. Our next visit is scheduled for July 7, 2009 and we will listen for Baby Shaffer’s heartbeat. I have been really nauseas from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. I’m also extremely tired…good thing Emmett has taken over cooking and house chores.

We found out today that we were having a baby! I am 5 weeks pregnant. I took a total of 4 pregnancies test before I finally believed it. My parents are coming to our house tomorrow to stay for the weekend so we have decided to invite everyone over on Saturday to tell them the big news (everyone thought they were coming over to see the new basketball goal). Papa Shaff is working in Orlando, so we decided to make him a Gen4 onesie and mail it to his hotel. We also made my Dad an “Overton’s Racecars” onesie. Since our Mother’s Day gifts of massages in Destin fell through due to sunburn, we told our Moms that we bought them jewelry instead; however, they were a little surprised to find positive pregnancy tests. My Mom thought it was a joke and wanted her jewelry…Patty screamed and “tackled” me. Chris and Jason continued to play baseball burnout. Needless to say, everyone was very very excited…the next couple of hours were filled with lots of phone calls and text messages spreading the good news!
