A New Vision

Today I am thankful and truly blessed! Until I started blogging, I didn’t realize how many people struggle with infertility issues or experience the loss of a child. Thank you God for blessing our family and giving us our beautiful baby boy! Many families struggle with finances and other issues daily but at the end of the day it’s the family time that really matters. This life is not about the things we can or cannot buy- it’s about enjoying each and every day with those you love. Last night Jaxson was fussy so I said a prayer out loud hoping that hearing my voice would put him at ease, he went right to sleep afterwards. He slept all night without waking 1 time for his paci- I even got up a few times to make sure he was breathing. Part of our nightly routine will be to say a prayer from now on. It seems like every Thursday night I’m packing our bags to go somewhere-it’s either a shower or a wedding all the time. Emmett and I have neglected finding a church in Hopkinsville because 1) we are never home 2) we just aren’t sure where to start 3) after Jaxson was born I’m really nervous about putting him the nursery where we don’t know anyone and 4) we are afraid of making people mad if we aren’t able to make it to the wedding/shower. It’s just impossible to make it to every event we have been invited to over the past several years, especially now with a baby. You can’t really understand how hard it is to travel with a baby until you have one and every event we are invited to requires traveling. My goal for our family for June is to visit at least 1 church in Hopkinsville: we will probably start with First Baptist since that’s where Jaxson goes to daycare. Since we don’t have a lot of family that lives close, I think finding a church family will be a great support system for us, help us grow in our relationship with one another as well as with God and will enable us to meet more people in Hopkinsville.

It has almost been a year since we found out that we were expecting. I can’t believe a whole year has passed us by and so much has happened! We were so nervous about the future because we had no idea what was ahead of us. But with the support of great family and friends, we made it through 39 weeks of pregnancy just fine and were finally able to meet our sweet sweet baby boy! We are so blessed to have Jaxson Cole in our life. He is such a sweet natured baby and I am so thankful that he's healthy thus far. I truly can’t imagine life without him and can’t remember what life was like before him. The beginning was definitely an adjustment but I think Emmett and I have finally started to settle into a routine and finally feel comfortable having a baby. Every day that he does something new brings such great joy to our lives. Jaxson can bring a smile to our face faster than anyone else. We love you so much baby boy and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

4 Months!!

Jaxson Cole had his 4 month checkup on May 27, 2010 with Dr. Kahn. He weighed 13.7 pounds and was 26 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile for his weight and 75th percentile for his height. Dr. Kahn said he seemed to be doing fine and said we could start cereal and baby food. Jaxson was a little congested but Dr. Kahn said his lungs and chest sounded clear.

Our baby turned 4 months old on May 29, 2010. He also tried baby food for the first time on the same day. The look on his face was priceless! I think more of the carrots ended up on the bib and his face than in his mouth. He seemed to like it okay. His tongue pushed quite a bit of it out but he did consume some! He has been taking cereal at night for a couple of weeks so we will continue with that. I will probably substitute his late afternoon/dinner feeding with baby food for now and substitute a little more as he gets older. He still likes to be standing or sitting. He has really started to enjoy the exosaucer(spelling??) and walker lately. He is able to push backwards and side to side. He still makes his noises but no “dada” or “mama” yet although we practice quite often. He is beginning to look a lot like Emmett. Jaxson is such a cuddle bug and I hope he stays that way for a while!

Jaxson slept in his bed for the first time on June 1, 2010 (Wa-Wa’s birthday!). I can’t remember what time he woke up crying but I’m guessing it was around 3 a.m. and I put him in our bed for the rest of the morning.

Family Time

I spent my first night away from Jaxson on May 14 to go to Lindsey's bachelorette party. He spent the night with Nana Pat, Aunt Megs, Max, Chris & Daddy. I missed him sooo much!

Jaxson had his first family reunion on Saturday with the King family. I'm so glad that everyone finally got to meet him and his Pawpaw and Wa-Wa enjoyed showing him off :)

On the way back to Hopkinsville Sunday afternoon, Jaxson spit his paci out (as usual) and managed to put it back in his own month twice!

My 1st Mother’s Day

May 9, 2010 was my first Mother’s Day! What a beautiful day it was & I enjoyed spending time with my precious boy. We got up and had Cracker Barrell (my favorite) for breakfast and then headed to Paducah to do a little shopping. We finished the afternoon off with Emmett playing basketball and Jaxson and Mommy having quality time together. Aunt Megs & Max also came over to see Jaxson. I love you Jaxson Cole more than you will ever know and I am truly blessed to be your Moma!

More “First”

I feel like I’m on repeat but every day Jaxson does something new that either makes us laugh or just leaves us astonished! He has a new cry that consists of him making his usual “whoooo” sounds but he does it with his pouty face. He tried it out on Mother’s Day and all Emmett and I could do was just laugh! He is absolutely precious! He has a few little toys hanging from the handle of his carseat but has never really shown interest in them until lately. On the way to daycare Monday morning, May 10,  I heard a “rrrrkkk….bbzzzzzz” and when I glanced back I realized he had pulled the string on his vibrating toy all by himself! I think he was just as shocked as I was because those blue eyes were very big. He also makes a sound now when he hiccups…it’s sooo cute to hear him hiccup now instead of just seeing his little body jerk with each one. He continues to “talk”, smile, sit up and stand with assistance! He’s also getting very good at kicking those little legs!

I dreamed Sunday night that he went from being 3months old to walking and running around. I was so excited when I woke up to find him still 3 months old. You really have to cherish everyday because they change and grow so much so fast! It’s hard to take a break in our busy lives because we are all just trying to get through the day but with one blink it may all pass us by. I guess my resolution for May is to stop and enjoy each day no matter what needs to be done in the house. Those chores will always be there and they aren’t nearly as important as watching my Jaxson change! Last night after his bath I read him a book (from Keaton) and rocked him to sleep. I don’t think there’s anything sweeter at this point…

He had to go to the doctor on May 11, 2010 for a rash. I wasn’t sure what caused it and daycare would not keep him until we knew what it was in case it was contagious. Dr. Kahn said it looked like an allergic reaction and advised us to stop giving him amoxicillin immediately. I hope he hasn’t developed a penicillin allergy.

Happy 3 months baby boy!

On April 29, 2010 , Jaxson Cole turned 3 months old. 3 months…wow where did it go? He is so entertaining these days! He loves to hear himself make noises. He LOVES to be sitting upright. He leans out of the carseat and we have to strap him into the NapNanny now because if not he will end up laying sideways in it. He enjoys the bumbo and he likes to lay on his back in the floor now. Just last week he watched a Baby Einstein DVD for 30 minutes without taking his eyes off of the television. He also likes to be standing and will move his feet as if he’s trying to walk. We put him in a walker and he can push himself backwards. He can’t wait to be mobile! He smiles a lot now too. No laughing yet, just a screech like he’s trying to laugh. He is now taking 6 ounces every 4 hours. He has just started to spit up some. He’s not a fast eater and I don’t think he overeats so I’m not sure what’s causing him to spit up…unless it’s all the bouncing and playing we do after feedings :) He recently outgrew almost all of his 0-3 month clothes. We weighed him a few weeks ago and he was 13.0 pounds! They have been packed in a tub and put in the attic in case he ever has a little brother. He consistently sleeps through the night now, which is fantastic! He loves his paci and loves to smack on it when he’s really tired. I’ve just noticed him starting to grasp things and play with his belly and toes. He is such a sweet boy and has such a good nature. He still looks like his Daddy some days and then other days he looks like his uncle Jason or his pawpaw. He took his first golf cart ride on April 30, 2010 and experienced his first time in the bathtub hiding from a tornado on May 1, 2010. He took his first daycare pictures on April 27, 2010 which happened to be the same day his Daddy had to attend driving school in Clarksville. :)

He had to go to the doctor on his 3 month birthday for a cough, upset stomach and just not feeling well. I was more concerned with his cough hoping it didn’t settle in his chest. The doctor said his chest sounded fine and gave us an antibiotic just in case his cough didn’t get better in 3-4 days. During the doctor’s visit, he rolled over from his back to his stomach on the table.
